In both census their is a niece living with them Jeannie Wallace - born Liverpool

And in 1901 there is a second Niece Annie Andrews, aged 18, born Co Down

Finding more information on these nieces could help find more siblings (although they may be his wife niece's etc)

Your replies came back so quickly.  I would like to thank you all for your kind promptness.  The find-a-grave website has been helpful.  However, there are some discrepancies:  For one thing, it mentions his wife as being a Miss Andrews in the article on him and  but then lists Rachel as being his wife.  A wee bit confusing.  His daughter Esther married  m. in 1899 to James McAuley Adair, who is related to  the McAuleys of Ardymaugh which is my line, hence my genealogical interest in this family.

With regards to the Miss Andrews mentioned in the article perhaps you coud get a copy of his marriage cert to Rachel to see if he was a widower or alternatively contact the McCracken Clan Group on Facebook.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/mccrackenclan/

Hi, solidrock.  Yesterday evening I sent a fb friend request off to the McCracken group and am now awaiting their response.  However, I think the Miss Andrews may just be an error.  It could be that Rachel's middle name of Ann ended up for some reason as Andrews.
