Started my tree way back in the 90s and got back to the mid 1800s. Work and ill health prevented a lot of work over the past 15 years.
However, a few months ago, I restarted, and have come up with a couple of ancestors who were born out of wedlock. On one, it gives John Wright Gartsides' mother's name as Mary Gartside spinster.
However, the marriage certificate of John Wright Garside gives his father's name as Thomas Garisde. I found a brother to John Wright called Frederick Edward. This marriage certificate also gives Thomas Garside as father.
Their mother Mary did marry Samuel Parkinson in 1846 (6 years after the birth of John Wright). So Samuel could be a possible father to John Wright and Frederick Edward, with Thomas Garside being a made up name.
Just wondering of how I could explore this further?
Thanks
