Artist's signature and subject of painting.

I'm very fond of an oil painting that I bought in a junk shop. I think (think!!) that it shows the headland of Mount Lavinia in Sri Lanka but I'm not 100% certain and I have no idea of the signature. Can anyone help with either query?

Why not write on paper what you see in signature??

Because all I see is vertical black lines that don't make up anything! Can you see more than that? I thought maybe somebody here would be able to tweak the picture to make things more clear (if possible)?

and is potentially a Sri Lankan name (if you're right about the location)....

Have had a google but most of the listings are modern painters and this looks older.

May be as well to start with the location identification, as that may possibly lead to a country of origin for the painter?

 In the Tamil community, there are no first names and last names they just have a single name.


You could try e.g googling      sri lankan first names

If so, even more important to know what country we're talking about.

In Sri Lanka, the languages are Sinhala and Tamil.

If you'll forgive the description, the Sinhalese alphabet looks very curved and rounded, which this certainly isn't.

Tamil also has very rounded curved letters but also more straight lines.
