I'm trying to find out information about William Walter Phillips b1891 Lewisham
Parents: William Phillips b1861 Paddington and Louisa Colwill b1865 Welcombe Devon - birth dates aren't consistent in 1891 and 1901 Census records
William Walter married Alice maud Kitchen Kitchener
He committed suicide on March 24th 1928, Hextable, Kent
I can find no records of him in World War 1 but he was apparently in the Artillery
Any help would be much appreciated

Are you aware that over 60% of WW1 service records were destroyed during WW2

Thank you for your reply  Yes, Rosie I was aware that some were destroyed and  I've seen some records which say 'burnt records' (not sure if that's the same thing ? The World Wars is an area I'm not practised in researching which is why I posted this question)
