British India Office Births

I so need some help here, I'm helping someone who know nothing of his Grandfather [ his Mother still living also knows nothing of her father who died when she was a small child ] 2 children that we know of was born in Kirkee Bombay [ 1922..1925 ] his mother is still living.
How would one go to get birth certificates please for these 2 people.

From a separate Rootschat post where a Rootschatter had visited the British Library**.

"The BL only has about 70% of the India records, the rest have been lost in the passage of time or never deposited when they were supposed to have been".

** - in this instance the birth record was amongst the 70% held.

Knowing their religion may help you and occupations.
Some of the British Army soldiers serving in India have their wives and children listed on their Service Records. FindMyPast.
If you know which area they lived in, church records may help.

As they are not mine..I have emailed of a whole lot of questions to the person..so I'm now awaiting on a reply from them.

So sad not knowing so close..most of us have a least a few generations to go on with

I visit the British Library where the records are held on a regular basis.

If you get more information over the weekend which relates to living people, send me a pm with the details and I'll take a look maybe next week.

You can search on FindMyPast for baptisms but the entries after 1918 are redacted so you won't any extra detail but the information is available in full at the library.
