Could Robert have been in military or worked abroad for some reason?

Thank you for your reply Maiden Stone - how would we find out about that in Ireland please?

There’s about 7 Robert Prideaux deaths registered in England in the period 1916 to 1953. Have you looked at those? Could he have died there? There was a Robert who died in Falmouth on 4.5.1949, born c 1882. It made me wonder whether there was a connection to George Prideaux in the Coastguard service whose family are nearby to Clones, in the Irish statutory records. Could Robert also have been in that line of business, which might take him to places like Falmouth? His widow may have returned to live with her family in Ireland after his death. Just speculation but a thought. The 1949 Robert left a will, so that could tell you a bit about him.

Thank you for your input Elwyn - will look at your thoughts and see if there could be a connection between George and Robert.

Several Robert Prideaux births in 1850s-1860s and marriages in England. Seems to have been a fair few in Cornwall and elsewhere in SW England. Plenty of opportunities for coastguards there.
