Medal naming request fos Munster fusiliers
« on: Friday 02 November 18 11:46 GMT (UK) »
Royal Munster fusiliers medals.
Can anyone help please.
Were all WW1 medals edged with R.Muns.Fus after soldiers details?

I have come across one that has R.MUNS.R and wondered if anyone could throw any light on this variation.

If the R is definitely an R and not a malformed F than I'd suspect a dodgy engraving perhaps on a replica medal.  There was no other regiment with Muns in the title.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Thanks for reply, there was also one sold at D.Noonan Webb auctions with same lettering.
