Help with handwriting please
« on: Friday 02 November 18 13:40 GMT (UK) »
This is the mesage from a WW1 silk postcard & I need a little help with the handwriting if possible. This is what I have so far:-

'My dear ? Your most welcome letter received this morning is ? before old ?  So yes a letter on Sunday although we do not know what day it is hardly.  All days are alike one? here but still I would sooner be in France than ? for some things (no weekends though) worse luck but still maybe will get a leave one of these days as there are plenty that go on pass from when we all got? 8 days. Pleased to know that you have news of the boys of the Sussex Yeomanry hope they will have as good a time as I have had and be as comfortable and as happy. I know where they have gone - so pleased I am not them. You did not say if you had received a card like this one I am sending or not but I sent one to Mother & she did get hers. Let me know if you get this dear. Well dearest I must close now. Have just had a lovely bath. Fondest love to all. My love as ever Nell?'

The card is addressed to Miss East & I'm not sure if it is from a soldier sweetheart or possibly from a sibling. I would be interested to know if others think the sender is 'Nell' as one of the East sisters was Nellie & would have been 22 at time - could she have been a nurse in France? One of the East boys was in the Royal Sussex Regiment.

Thanks for looking
Keith

.
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

..."sooner be in France than England".. "All days are alike another" I think it says Nell...but that is also used by Ellens too.
