He was in 1st Battalion of the Cameronians, part of 111th Independent Brigade so definitely Chindits.

If you Google chindits 25 may 1944 you'll find a lot of information on what was happening for 111 Brigade on that day as they abandoned the "Blackpool" stronghold under heavy enemy fire. Some of it is quite distressing to read.
