William Taplin
« on: Friday 02 November 18 17:38 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find the death certificate of William and have searched all the resources I have available online.

He was a driver in the Royal Field Artillary, service no. 84458. His military records show he was invalided back to England in 1918 and he deserted at Woolwich. The records mention that he is deceased and there is reference to a copy of his death certificate. Can't make out the date but it looks like 1925 or 28.

I wondered if his death would be recorded at the GRO or just in the Army.

what was his birth year? The army wouldn't record his death as such, it would be registered wherever he died, the army would simply be noting the fact for the records.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

The age on the Billericay death corresponds with his age on service records, the obvious step is for poirot to get that  death certificate.

:) That's good, when/where did he marry Frances/Francis, and her death?

EDIT A marriage to a Frances Revill in 1915 Exeter leads to births in Dec 1917 Marylebone and 1920 Islington.

Thank you for your replies.

William's dob was 1886. He married Frances Revill  4/8/1915 in Exeter which was her birthplace. His address at that time was Topham Barracks, Exeter. He was 29.

On the first page of his records he states he is 32 and unmarried which was not true.

Frances died in 1965 in Birkenhead.

I would love to know why William deserted and what he died from.

What does Deceased (PT) mean.

:) Thanks for the extra information, I would have the thought a Deserter was just that a Deserter, what records do you feel will be available to tell you why he deserted?
