I can’t pin down a death for Agnes.

Have you done anything about getting the death certificate ? That is the only way you will find out who his parents are

How do you know he was born in 1826? You are taking age information from the census which was taken in April. Someone born in May 1825 ( as the John found by Jamjar was) would show as the same age as someone born early 1826.
