Wow, brings a lump to the throat, I always think of of the poor souls this time of year, like lambs to the slaughter  sent over the top to certain death. :-[

Another poppy placed for my great uncle who was killed in September 1918, aged 19, whilst going over the top with his Lewis gun team.
Our family have a letter sent by by gt.grandfather to my grandfather who was also in France, telling him of his brother's death, outwardly stiff upper lip yet so sad.
Reading our local parish newsletter, a family in our village lost both sons on the same weekend. Such a waste of so many young lives.

Another poppy placed for my g.uncle, orphaned aged 8 and sent to an orphanage, joined the army aged 14 in 1906 and died in the Battle of Cambrai on 24 November 1917 aged 24.  He has no grave, just his name on the Cambrai Memorial.

Would it be appropriate to create a page for my great uncle who served in the army?  He died of shell shock in 1923.
