Hi Lensmeister, went to the Sussex FHG library today and looked but really not much luck I am afraid.

I checked Balcombe baptisms 1642-1743, Ardingly baptisms 1558-1690 and West Hoathly baptisms 1606-1678 but no Adrie/Audrey Gib/Gibb/Gibbs mentioned.  There didn't appear to be a break in any of the above records.  I then checked the whole Sussex FHG baptism database for the name anywhere and there were no entries.

There were 2 Audrey Feldwick burials at West Hoathly though, 1737 and 1755.  You might have this info already but without any other info impossible to tell which one relates to your Audrey neé Gibb.

Knowing from what jonw65 said earlier that she had a brother William I checked for baptisms of William Gibbs' in Balcombe and came across:
William Gibb bapt 28/2/1650/51 son of John Gibb at St. Mary, Balcombe.
Also baptised there, children of John Gibb were:
Ann Gibb bp 2/1/1641/42
James Gibb bp 9/3/1654/55.

Hopefully some of this will be helpful.

I suggest you look at joining the Sussex Family History Group as then you will get full acess to the transcribed baptism and burial records and various other information.

www.sfhg.org.uk   and you will also be able to see their list of publications.  Most sussex parishes have a CD containing parish register transcriptions and surname indexes for around £5 per CD.

Also, not sure if it will cover your area but there is The Weald.org site which might be helpful.(West Hoathly is definitely included).

Regards, Pheno

Awesome Pheno thank you.

Even a "no find" is good as it rules out those parishes and give other options. I do think she was either not baptised or was during the Gaps listed ... but hey I'm keeping the faith :)

I have thought about joining but I tend to drift in and out of FH sporadically. I used to be part of the East Surrey and Middlesex FHSs but gave up as the family movement moved out of the areas. I'd end up belonging to about 15 FHS at this rate LOL

There are these two baptisms in Cuckfield, which is a next door parish to Balcombe.
Margaret Gibb, 2 October 1638
Dorathy Gibb, 14 April 1645
Parents John + Anne.
Ann baptized in Balcombe to John Gibb fits in between them.

Another one in Balcombe, following that marriage
25 October 1635
John ye son of John Gibb and An his wife
(next image on the BTs)

On the PR it is Gib, and for some reason gives Ann's maiden name, Ilman (second entry, right hand page)

With the two Cuckfield baptisms that would I think give us all of the siblings named in William's will, except Audrey!

Got their burials at Balcombe here
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-D1VS-MQW?i=109&cat=27581

14 March 1681/2 William Gibb young age was buried
11(?) May 1682 Widdow Hills middle age was buried

Curiously on the BT Ann is described as "wife" of John Hills
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DKY3-X1N?i=238&cat=75049

A Margaret Gibb was buried in Balcombe in 1686, may be the sister.

17 December 1675, just a few months after Audrey's marriage, John Gibb the elder was buried at Balcombe.

Now it's strange I went to this page:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/685691?availability=Family%20History%20Library
Clicked on the "An index for England, Sussex, Parish Registers is available online, click here."
And typed in William Feldwick as a search and it never came up .. how strange !

Ah, you have to find the wills on FamilySearch yourself. For Lewes/South Malling wills use The Keep website to find them indexed, and then look for them on the appropriate digitized film. Original wills for Lewes, the register copy wills are not viewable at home.
For the period we have been looking at I would hope them to be arranged by the date the will was proved. Go back a few years and it is harder, they may be even be in random order, and there is the possibility that the original will has not survived.
John

OK ... so now I am beginning to think that jonw65 has links the the netherworld and is getting tipped off LOL

Seriously ... Thanks a lot.

Possible marriage for John + Ann (Ilman) in Balcombe, 12 May 1634.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DKY3-F3Y?i=223&cat=75049

Looking at Ann's surname it looks like Ilman but a bit further up the page there is what looks to be
Jone Heaver burial. The J in Jone looks similar to the first letter in Ann's surname. I supposed when said Hillman could be misunderstood as Ilman.

With the two Cuckfield baptisms that would I think give us all of the siblings named in William's will, except Audrey!

Now that means it could be the Adrie was baptised during the gaps years in the registers or at another parish. Could it be that Audrie was in fact Ann ?

Plot thickens.
