By maternal bloodlines my Great Grandmother Miriam Lois Barker (nee Vallance) is the younger sister of Mary Eliza Dunscomb O'Shea (nee Vallance); Mary was born 16 May, 1831 in St John's Newfoundland, Canada and Miriam was born 16 April, 1848 in West Merseyside, England. The Mother of Mary and Miriam, Margaret Magill Vallance (nee Dunscomb), died in 1850 in Liverpool, England...

What is as yet undiscovered by me is the name of the Ship(s), and/or the date(s) of arrival in New Zealand of Mary and Miriam, or whether they emigrated together or separately, and I would welcome any related information...

Mary Eliza married Mr. James O'Shea on 25 February, 1868 in the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Wellington, New Zealand - I have no further awareness of the O'Shea Family beyond that date and would much appreciate any information accordingly...

Miriam Lois Vallance married Charles Joseph Barker on 18 April, 1876 in St Peter's Church, Wellington just eight months after Charley arrived in Auckland, New Zealand 24 August, 1875 on the "Dover Castle" - their daughter Miriam Vallance Sutherland (nee Barker) born 20 August, 1880 in Christchurch, New Zealand is my maternal Grandmother...

For any assistance as above mentioned I would be most greatful...

So 1851 not 1850?

Yes.
Miriam is still with her father and brothers, John D)unscombe) and  Christopher B(ridges)  in 1861 in Liverpool

William buried 28 April 1863

Miriam is not on the 1871 so presumably emigrated between censuses - possibly after the death of her father

Regarding arrival in NZ is there any indication on their death certificates?

Mary was in Edgbaston in 1861 age 30 visitor, occupation Nurse (I think)

So that narrows her down to between 1861 and 1868.

I find it very odd that William who says he was a Merchant and Stockbroker does not seem to have left a will, nor warranted any obvious mention in the newspapers

Marriage notice for James O’Shea says he was a Merchant late of Algoa Bay.   Is that in South Africa?

Notice dated 14 August 1866 announcing he has commenced business in Wgtn (assuming he is the General Broker which seems likely).

Possible arrival of James O’Shea from SA 22 January 1865 per “Eveline”
