Marriage notice for James O’Shea says he was a Merchant late of Algoa Bay.   Is that in South Africa?

If that is the case, is it possible the family moved to South Africa?  Just speculating.

Probably OP knows all this :-)  and we still don't have them arriving in NZ, although have it narrowed down now I think. to between 1861 (more likely to be 1863 after death of father) and Feb 1868, marriage of Mary Eliza (but to allow time for her getting to know James then before early 1867)

Think OP will be learning all this as they read:

I have no further awareness of the O'Shea Family beyond that date and would much appreciate any information accordingly...

Auction of property in Bidwell Street Wellington "Mrs James O'Shea's settled estate"  July 1896
Does that imply she died before that and that the property was in her name due to his previous insolvency???  Or now she is insolvent too??  I'm thinking the latter.
