Myrtle May Dimsey
« on: Monday 05 November 18 01:38 GMT (UK) »
I am seeking some information on Myrtle May Dimsey, born possibly around Ballarat in 1890 according to her death age, she married Leslie Archibald Yeaman in 1923. I have not been able to locate a birth for her. It appears she grew up with her grand parents William and Jane Dimsey in Ballarat according to census records. I recently recieved information that she was an illegitimate daughter of William and Jane Dimsey's son John and a lady named Caroline Williams. John moved to Tasmania in the early 1890's and married , dying in Hobart in 1932. Can anyone help to track her parents?
Cheers
Craig

I wonder who are named as her parents on the 1923 marriage certificate?

Images of marriage certificates are available online and you can purchase and immediately download
https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/indexsearch.doj

This is the only illegitimate birth I can see with mother you have named.

WILLIAMS Lily
Father Unknown    Mother Caroline WILLIAMS
At Collingwood  1893  Reg#30725

Her death registration in 1976 Dandenong, has parents unknown.

You can check the death registration yourself on
https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/indexsearch.doj

An online tree suggests Myrtle was the second born to William DIMSEY and Isabella McDONALD in 1890.  Their other chn were born 1888 and 1892.  Wm died in 1894 and Isabella re-married the following year.

The birth certificate for the third child would name previous issue to the marriage or at least give the number of chn living and deceased at that time.

An online tree suggests Myrtle was the second born to William DIMSEY and Isabella McDONALD in 1890.  Their other chn were born 1888 and 1892.

She is not mentioned in Lyle's death notice:

DIMSEY-TROTTER — Killed in action in France, October 5, Lieutenant Lyle Sanderson Dimsey,
aged 25 years (late of Treadway's, Collingwood), loved son and stepson of Isabella and Ernest A.Trotter, "Berachah," Geelong, loving brother of Talbot, Rose, Hilda and Harry.

There isn’t a birth registration for her with those parents either.

What is the source of this information?  Marriage certificate?

If not I think you need to purchase that certificate.  Many illegitimate births were not registered.
