Bolton Burial & Mortcloth Records (East Lothian)
« on: Monday 05 November 18 14:13 GMT (UK) »
Another new publication from the Scottish Genealogy Society: Bolton Burial & Mortcloth Records (East Lothian): The parish records commence in 1644 but it was not until 1684 that the names of the deceased are recorded. Some years the date of burial is given, some years the date of payment for the use of the Mortcloth gives an approximate date of death. From 1684 to 1744 deaths are found in the Kirk Session records (CH2/37/3); from 1745 to 1855 they are in the Old Parish Registers. In this record the names and places have been recorded as they are written and have been sorted alphabetically by surname, to group families together and aid research. Our new publication, transcribed by Joy Dodd, has over thirty pages and costs £3.00 plus p&p and is also available from our website: https://shop.scotsgenealogy.com/acatalog/2018-October.html
