1930s football team
« on: Monday 05 November 18 14:20 GMT (UK) »
Hoping someone will kindly restore this picture. My Dad is the guy with the curly hair in the front row. Not sure where the picture was taken - he played for a few teams in and around Edinburgh in the 1930s/40s.

Hi Hoggie and welcome to Rootschat. Could you scan your photo to Jpeg format rather than Pdf as the quality is lost during the conversion to Jpeg. For best results and a good print out, could you please scan in colour mode at a resolution of 300dpi and you can post a file size of just below 500kbs here.

Dr. Dude, The whole point of giving out advice is to encourage the posters to scan in the correct format and with a good file size. This makes the job easier as not all restorers can convert a PDF file to jpeg. And the file size is smaller than the recommended 500kbs which is not easy on the eyes.
If we always accept and work on what we are given, then nothing changes  ::)
Just my take on the matter as a restorer on here for eleven years.

I already realized the situation. However, I worked with what was given and even gave a sample JPG for others to work with or see if it was worth their time. I don't ask for better pics or get bummed when praise of my work does not come quickly. If my work gives them a preview of what a better scan might yield, then it could actually help you get your improved scan. If they just like what I (or whoever) has done with what they offered, then it will save time for others.

Scolding photo restorers or the photo providers is counterproductive. I only do this stuff to help out, I enjoy watching these pics come back to focus, but reprimanding someone for working with what they offer or a photo provider for not having a better image or being slow with praise is really taking the fun and joy I get out of this kind of work.

If my work is unwelcome, then have them remove me from the website.  It makes no never mind to me.

My apologies to Hoggie that this was brought up on your post when you were simply looking for a restore. I do sincerely hope you enjoy the photos I did.

Hoggie,

You've nothing to apologize for. It's a conflict of ideals about the photo restorations. Sorry it spilled over into your post. Hope you like my restore of your first photo.

Thanks for the new version of the pic, if you want I will work on that as well.
