Burrows in Ancoats
« on: Tuesday 06 November 18 22:14 GMT (UK) »
An ancestor of mine was Richard Burrows born 1827 in Middlesex and baptised in Camden London, parents Richard and Sarah. He married Elizabeth Taylor born 1830 in 1849 in Manchester. Their address is stated as 27 Alum Street, Ancoats, Manchester. However, they are not listed at this address on the 1851 Census. Can anyone help me locate them? I can't find them any time after their marriage.

Are you descended from one of their children?  If so - can you give the childs details in case we can find them using that info.

After all that research - I think you have the wrong Richard marrying Elizabeth Taylor

1851 water damaged census shows Richard Burrows 18 - married - occ roper born Salford.  He and his wife Elizabeth 23 umbrella maker are living with his mother Jane Burrows b Northwich Cheshire

1861 indexed as Bailey - same as original image

Richard 29 ropemaker b Salford
Elizabeth 31 b Manchester
Elizabeth A 7 b Salford
Richard 8mths b Salford
John Taylor 18 boarder b Manchester

Ah no! Thank you anyway!! He was baptised 15 Apr 1827 so assume he was born early 27. Could you possibly help me find the correct Richard? I just can't seem to find what he done after leaving his parents home, as he is shown living there in 41 but not 51.

Have you already discounted the 1851 entry for Richard Burrows b 1825 London - occ lithographic printer?  Possible death for him in 1868

In 1861 he is 37 b City of London and married to Esther (nee Davis) marriage 1852 is on freebmd

Ignore - found marriage and his father was Job
