Cooper Cooper unkown date, Toddington, Bedfordshire
« on: Wednesday 07 November 18 07:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone, I am looking for a date for this newly discovered photo. It is from a photo album linked to Toddington, Bedfordshire, however I cannot guarantee that the photo was taken there, and I have know idea when it was taken. I am hoping to match them to some family names if I can narrow down a date. Thanks. Wendy

The crinoline was fashionable from the 1850s, but I would guess at the 1860s for this photo as the young boy is dressed for that era.
I'm sure somebody will be able to date it better than me.

Agree with Pat, 1860s, and early in the decade before ears were fully exposed.

Unfortunately it's not an original, I'm not even sure if it's a copy of the original, although I will find out more about that. I was hoping it was the early 1860s as that would place the boys, at about 13 and 10, please correct me if you think I'm wrong. I do have boys in the family who fit that profile.
And yes I thought it was nice to see her with a smile, although I suspect it could be a smirk if it is the lady who I think it is. However, I'm just making assumptions at this time so will keep digging a bit further.
Thank you so much for you replies.

Lovely image. I would say it's early 1860s as her ears are still covered.

I hope the boy on the left was a good cricketer  ;D

Funnily enough it was the boy with the cricket bat who first got our attention.
If it is the boy I think it is, he is known as playing once for Hampshire in 1975.
I really am confident of who he is, however, i'm a really stickler for evidence in documents, written word etc, and all I have here is 'unknown folk' in a family album. I have another photo of the lady from the same album, and will post that in a separate posting, as I have a couple of other question about it.
