Ireland. Mother Anne Keenan, b1766.

I think most of this may have been copied from Ancestry.

Thanks for the links :)

I have all his children and have managed to find records for most of them.

Children of William and Mary (Whelan) - no marriage has yet been found but they had the following children:
Mary                     c1825 (haven't yet found a bapt for her) but she died in Lancashire in 1887
John Walter          bapt 29 Jun 1826 Roscrea, Co Tipperary
James                   bapt 19 Sep 1828 Roscrea, Co Tipperary
William                 bapt 27 May 1831 Roscrea, Co Tipperary
Michael                bapt 24 Jun 1834 Roscrea, Co Tipperary
Daniel                  bapt 24 Jan 1837 Roscrea, Co Tipperary
Margaret              bapt 29 Nov 1839 Garryduff, Aghaboe Parish, Laois
Thomas                c1844 (no bapt found yet)
Rose                    c1850 (no bapt found yet)

On William bapt in 1852 he stated his age as 60 which would put his birth as 1792 instead of 1787 like it was listed on his military papers

Wildermoth/Wildermouth (Ireland, England, France); Byrne, Whelan, Keenan (Ireland); Ellis (Cornwall); Bambrough (Durham), Newman (Durham and Norfolk); Watson (Durham); Mattison (Yorkshire); Kirker (New Zealand and Ireland); Pirie (Scotland); Campton (unknown);

The Rosrea Heritage Society were the ones who gave me all the baptisms plus another distance relative checked them all out when they were in Ireland and confirmed that they were all correct.

As William wasn't discharged from the army until 1827 we think he may of married Mary Whelan elsewhere.  He moved around quite a bit according to his military papers so there are a lot of places to check out :)

It does seem that he settled in Laois as he is listed in the Griffiths Valuation in Aghaboe, Laois in the 1850s.

Any help as to what records to look through would be great - I'm happy to plow my way through as much as possible as this family brickwall (William and his French father Jean Christopher who also seems to have settled in Ireland) have been a sticking point for a long time.

I've managed to make baby steps so far :)

Jean Christopher Wildermoth (also spelt Wildermouth). It is believed he was born in France (sometime in the 1760's) and came to Ireland serving in the Army possibly in the 16th Foot Buckinghamshire Regiment and that he married Anne Keenan in 1787 while stationed in Belfast.

Jean Christopher may of been known as John or Christopher or Christian but so far you have not found much information on him except whats on the Mormon church records.

William wasn't discharged from the army until 1827 you think he may of married Mary Whelan elsewhere but where was he stationed c.1824/5  ??
