Not sure about this BUT I already have a UK subscription to Ancestry and I have tried to access Australian records for a family member who migrated to Oz and then returned as part of the Australian Forces in WW1.  I am asked to upgrade to World membership  :-\  :'(

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Many thanks for the offer, shume.  I think that I have all the information on this guy, assuming that it is his military records.  I'll send you a PM with his name, and perhaps you could be so kind as to check for me.

If you log in to ancestry.com.au you should be able to see any free military records. Even if they are not be available via the UK site. I'm logged in to both, and this is what I am finding.
Then again, they may ultimately send you to Fold3? Which is also having a free weekend, but you may need to register first
