Thanks for that.  I believe that I do have all his military records, and even a photograph - William Walter Walter William Archbell.  One of his sons served on HMAS Sydney in WW2, which was sunk in 1941 - the wreck was discovered in 2008. 
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
