Thomas Herbert Rice

I've been trying to find this fellow for years. Born in Liverpool, England in 1870.......disappears off the records after 1881. Family folklore says that someone went to Arizona. Someone died over there in the 1950's. Any help, please?

There have been many records added to Family Search since your first request in 2005 - have you ever found anything positive on Thomas - immigration record etc 

Parents are listed on one of these links as :- Charles and Elizabeth  (Charles Rice and Elizabeth Miller)

You mention on another thread that Uncle William Rice went to the USA around 1950 (to possibly tidy up some affairs) - have you traced this William Rice on passenger lists ? When was this William Rice born and to whom ?   

I did check a William James Rice born 11/10/1910 to Charles Percival Rice and Amy Huxley but could not see a passenger list entry around 1950  Charles and Amy married 26 December 1901 (Thomas was not a witness at the marriage)

Hi Sandra,

Many thanks for your research.

After 1881, he disappears off the face of the earth.

He was born on the 28/11/1870. He had 1 brother (Charles Percival Rice- my great grandfather) and 2 sisters.

Legend has it that an ancestor went to Arizona and in fact Charles Percival's son, William, went out there in July 1954, to tidy some affairs up, after reportedly seeing a notice in the Liverpool Echo. I have seen him mentioned as a passenger. I can find nothing.

Is this the William J Rice listed on a New York Passenger List arriving 10 July 1954 - Liverpool to New York - Brittanic - going to 2816 South Harvard Tulsa Oklahoma.

Sorry. That's the one. I didn't see that he was going to Oklahoma? Does it say that on the passenger list?

It could only be family knowledge that would positively identify this as your William J Rice because there is no age, home address or any other clue on the image on ancestry.

On my copy it does mention age and address, but says nothing about Oklahoma?
