As an update to this thread I have received some information from the records office suggesting that - the parents of -
Evan Evans  sr b Carno 1786 could of been Evan Arthur (Occ: Weaver)  and Catherine Daniel.  Information found in in the parish of Machynlleth.

Ann Jones parents could be William Jones and Ann Owen. Ann could of been born 21st Jan 1789 and baptised in Bont Dolgodfan.

If anyone can confirm any of these details I will be very grateful.
Best wishes
Paul

that baptism is in the parish church of Llanbrynmair 25 Jan 1789, abode abbreviated to Dol. (Dolfach?) There is also an Ann dau of Benjamin & Ann Jones bp 10 July 1791, abode Dol.

But isn't it more likely that she was baptised in a non-conformist church like her children? There is a baptism of an Ann Jones 21 Mar 1791 dau of Robert & Mary abode Caeangleision (?) at Llanbrynmair Old Chapel (Congregationalist)

There's a baptism in Carno 7 July 1783 for Evan son of Morris Evan, labourer, & Anne.
Evan son of Edward Evan & Catherine bp 17 Dec 1786.
Evan son of Edward Evan, labourer, & Anne bp 11 March 1787 possible burial for Edward 21 Feb that year.

Morris Evans of Llanwnnog married Anne Price of Carno 9 Feb 1783 in Carno
Edward Evans & Catherine Davies both of Carno married 25 Aug 1779 in Carno
Edward Evan & Anne Evan both of Carno married 9 Sep 1786 in Carno

Good morning, thanks for taking the trouble to give a detailed reply. I was hoping that the records office would provide a breakthrough but it seems that the search for this family remains problematical. Evan sr consistently places Carno as place of birth I am reading too much into this?
Best wishes
Paul

as that is what is stated on 2 census entries and you have no other clues, it seems sensible to go with Carno. Machynlleth is over 13 miles away (according to Genuki) so why go with that other than the father has the same occupation?

Hi Everyone

I have been researching our house Plas Llysyn, in Carno.

It seems the house was rebuilt around 1822.. Previous house being Perthincws.

These names have being showing up in Google. Perthincws could be where they were from?
