WW1 Army Pensioner Thomas Bibby Nest House Felling
« on: Friday 09 November 18 14:13 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace THOMAS BIBBY described on his death certificate age 30 date 17/10/1927 as Army Pensioner. He came from and died in Preston. He was gassed in WW1, so I was told as a child. Cause of death given as Pulmonary Tuberculosis and Tubercular Laryngitis “nol. M” - hard to read that.
He was in Nest House Felling and I have found this was as a hospital in WW1. I know he was there because I have 3 books inscribed with his name and Nest House Felling as the address.
I have tried searching for his military record on Find My Past and Forces War Records, but no luck. I have no idea of his regiment, or where he was gassed.
Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated.

Was his father's name Henry and did he live in Watling St (or Rd) Fulwood?

Do bear in mind that the majority of Great War records were lost to bombing in WW2 so the odds are against finding any one set.

Thanks MaxD. His death certificate says his aunt Ann Bibby was present at death. Not sure exactly who his parents are but that is of secondary importance to his war service, for me today.

I asked only because one service record for a Thomas Bibby has that father and address and seems to be the only Preston connection.  He was in the element of the Royal Engineers that were responsible for our own gas warfare and many of them suffered from the long term effects.

Ah! Thanks. Well I had him in a different birth family. Hard to tell. And I might be wrong. Where did you find that service record?
