Welshnewspapers online

The 1882 cricket reports had R M Ainslie clocking up some useful runs - not so in this match between Chester Diocese and Liverpool Diocese!!

Those are all useful clues, and he played regularly for Liverpool CC and the clergy team.  I must have inherited the genes from that 1908 match, having matched his score too often.
I had not thought of the Welsh papers, which do have bits of Liverpool news.

Hi - I was doing some of my own research and came upon your search for your grandfather. I have a picture of your grandfather from Walton Lodge. The school was founded by my great-great-grandfather and at the time my great-grandfather was the head teacher.
