MOFFATT in Cape Breton
« on: Saturday 10 November 18 15:29 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the descendants of Crawford Emmerson MOFFATT b. 30 Jul 1906, Glace Bay, NS. Crawford is the only known son of my great aunt Jessie Robertson.

Crawford married Annie Marie Bowman 24 Jan 1930 Sydney, NS.

The two family branches seemingly lost touch in the 1940s. I have done a modest amount of research which I'd be happy to share.

From Voters Lists in Sydney and a potential border crossing to the U.S. (not acted on) he seems to have been a machinist.  In Voters Lists for Hamilton, Ontario there is a Crawford MOffat with wife Annie in Hamilton up until 1974.

From this cemetery database there is a Crawford E. Moffat listed and also an Annie M. Brown - although in different cemeteries.  You could contact the cemetery to see if they are yours.

Thank you very much...we weren't aware of the move to Hamilton, Ontario. Any Moffatt cousins of my generation should be found there.

Also had birth order of Irene & Margaret reversed...

The house at 43 Main Street (no longer in existence) was for decades the family home - two of Jessie's siblings had previously lived & died at this address.

Just noticed there is a RAOGK volunteer in Hamilton - last on this list.
Might be worth an e-mail to see if they can help further.

Or Hamilton Public Library - always worth asking.
