You didn't say if his father is living or not on his marriage cert.

There is a baptism for Michael Francis O’Brien
Born 19th June 1883
Baptised 22nd June 1883
St Mary's (Pro-Cathedral)
Address 19 Bolton St
Father:   Michael O'Brien
Mother:   Julia Murphy

I can’t see a birth registration.

There is this marriage
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1881/10991/8018808.pdf
Michael O’Brien and Julia Byrne. Michael is a Printer

Earlier, when I was trying to find the record you posted I saw a Michael who was a Printer, I think so will have another look.

The printer thing is interesting because I instantly thought he could of been a printer and not a reporter at the Irish Times! But, the dads name is wrong and that has him as a bachelor. He was married to his first wife in 1929, that lady is not related to my husband. My husbands granny, Michaels second wife (or partner as I’ve seen no proof they were married) is a lady called Bridget Mary Whelan, again, another big Irish name, needle in a hey stack situation.

Now, their son, (my husbands father) was born in 1936. Just 7 years after Michaels first marriage! No idea what happened to her, dead or alive when he moved on, no clue!?

Sorry, no it doesn’t mention it I’m afraid.

I thought you said his father was also Michael. Is that wrong?

There is this Ancestry record

Michael O’Brien 28yrs in 1914 a Printer
Royal Dublin Fusiliers no. 12759
N.o.k. Brother John address Dorset Street

I don’t think it mentions  a middle name,
Though and there is a marriage in 1893 to Rosanna Doherty and a son William in 1902.

Seems unlikely, I think  :-\

Ye I don’t think so either.. It’s difficult tracing Irish records because a lot of people didn’t register anything, as long as you were baptised , their records were good enough. But only some of the church records are online, which is a shame because they give out such really good information like mothers maiden name and fathers occupation etc.

Yes, the father is also called Michael. Sorry for any confusion, I’m confusing myself here too!  :D

That’s not necessarily the case and some of your records are more recent.
When you say you know his year of birth and that he was a clerk in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers how certain is this?
Is it from family knowledge?
Is the 1929 record definitely him but sometime between 1929 and 1936 he ‘married’ Bridget Whelan?

Did he marry in Ireland? What was his first wife's name.
