Louis Christian SCHOCH 1920-2009 DOB 16 Jun 1920
« on: Sunday 11 November 18 19:11 GMT (UK) »
My Uncle served in the Army WW2.  He never married and has no children so I am hoping to obtain his medals from his war service.  I know he was in Italy in the latter stages of the war but have no other details at all.  Is there anywhere I can search to get this information?

Thanks

Richard

Only his service record, still held by MoD, will have confirmed details of his medal entitlement so you will need to apply for it:

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

The OP is in Canada, and  as the name is more prevalent in Canada and the USA rather than the UK, it is possible British records would be of no use.

Thanks everyone. Gives a place to start my search.

Jebber not sure what the Canada reference is for. If it means that I am in Canada then you are correct. However my Uncle served in the British Army (UK citizen) as did I many years later (N'Ireland).  But your reference to the Schoch name does have relevance.  My Grandfather was German (naturalized UK after WW1, during which he was interred on the Isle of Man) Then his son (my Uncle) fought against the Germans in WW2.
Even my father, who was in the Merchant Navy, in the Atlantic convoys), was under threat from Germans submarines, who;s sailors in theory could have been related to him.

I often wonder how many others were in the same situation during the war?
