122nd Labour Company
« on: Monday 12 November 18 14:21 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find information about the activities of the 122nd Labour company during WW1 for my mother-in law who will be 90 soon. My mother-in-law wants to know more about what happened to her father who was gassed but survived. He suffered with ill health for the rest of his life but never talked about his experiences.
Prior to being in the labour Company he was in the DLI but I'm struggling to find any information about his service.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I've tried links from ancestry forums but none of them appear to work.

his DLI number indicates he was a pre war regular. Is this a possibility?

Yes, it is. He was born in 1894. Could it be that he was gassed when serving in the DLI and on recovery was transferred to the LC?

According to "No Labour, No Battle", he would have been transferred to the Labour Corps between October 1917 and January 1918.

In November 1917, 122 Company were attached to First Army.

Thank you for that. I don't know much about the First Army. Can you tell me where I can find out more? I know Haig was in charge at one point but that's about it.
