A mother for William, Charles and Elizabeth Chick (1840s)
« on: Monday 12 November 18 16:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find the surname of of Sarah, the mother of Elizabeth (1844), William (1848) and Charles Chick (1851). She was married to Samuel Chick (b. 1819, Kingstone), and, according to censuses, was born in Exeter or Broadclyst around 1820. All her kids give birth places of around Membury, Dalwood, Chardstock area. I've not been able to find a marriage for Sarah and Samuel and the locations being so much around the Devon/Dorset border has made it harder. Similarly, I've not been able to use the GRO index to any avail (none of the maiden names or locations match up). Pretty stuck with this one and would be very grateful if anyone could lend a hand.

Best wishes
Samuel

OK found the 1851: HO107/1862/420/1.

I see Charles is 5mo in 1851, born Membury, so birth would be 1850, reg district should be Axminster.
