Landsley
« on: Monday 12 November 18 17:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi everybody. I'm searching for my gg grandfather Thomas Landsley (I notice this can be spelt many different ways. ). He was born Wiltshire England, no birth date as yet, served in 83rd lightfoot regiment. Served in Canada in 1842/43. Arrived back to England and then on to Ireland. He married Eliza Flinter in 1844. - we have that record from Northhampton. We definitely know he had a daughter Catherine in 1848 but may have had one before that??
He died in 1847, before Catherine was born but we can't find out where he died or where he is buried or where daughter was born. I would love to find out these details. Thank you.

Is there any record of another daughter Annie Elizabeth born 1846??  Catherine was born 1848 but we don't know where??  And her father Thomas died 1847.

Catherine was born 1848 but we don't know where??

I see that Catherine A Landsley (dressmaker), 23 b Ireland, is a niece in the household of Ernest & Caroline Ludecke in Cowley, Oxford in 1871: RG10/1435/6/3.

Caroline’s maiden name was Flinter, so presumably she was a sister or other relative of Eliza?

OK so if you knew about Caroline did you already have the 1871 census showing Catherine’s birthplace as Ireland?
