Identifying Indian Artillery Regiment and Location
« on: Tuesday 13 November 18 20:00 GMT (UK) »
I have copies of my great grandfathers war service in WW2 but am no clearer where he served as I can't identify his regiment. He ended the war as a sergeant serving in the 33/10 Indian Light AA Regt IA. From the information I've found there is no 10th LAA or 33rd LAA in the Indian artillery. Any help much appreciated.

Hi
Why don't you post the page showing his service and units and we can see the flow, theatres he was in etc.  You are not giving us much to go on!!

It is 33 Battery, 10th Indian Light Anti Aircraft Regiment you are looking for.  However I have tried a Google search but nothing and Farndale's History of the Artillery in the Far East says it was raised in 1943 and was in Bengal in January 1945 but that is all.  It is not in the Index as being mentioned in the narrative in the book.
I've also looked for the War Diary at Kew in the search engine (Discovery) but I cannot find anything.
