Christopher Hansen and Elizabeth Gair from Blyth
« on: Wednesday 14 November 18 13:08 GMT (UK) »
I was looking for help with the above. I have had a hint that they were in Sydney Australia, not sure when and I cannot find on any passenger lists. they got married 1918 and had children 1918, 1921 and 1924 all in Tynemouth reg area(suspect Blyth). Any ideas how I can find out if this is my Hansens?  Years ago I had a query regarding G Grandfather the above father also Christopher. Someone found that he worked on the dredger "Cowpen" on the river Blyth but there was a note that he left to go to Australia 8 Feb 1915. is there a mix up with father and son??? soooo confused.

Thanks.

Have you tried looking for them on the 1939 register in case they are still in England

There is a report in the Morpeth Herald, 30 July 1937, page 9
about an inquest for a Christopher Hansen, age 42, occupation boiler scaler, of 124 Plessey Road, Blyth. He died from injuries after being knocked down by a cyclist.

and a free search of the 1939 register shows an Elizabeth Hansen, born 1894, living in Blyth, plus one other closed record .

Yes the report in Morpeth Herald is definitely about him and yes they were here on 1939 register. His children were born in Blyth 1918, 1921 and 1924 all in Blyth. It looks if it is them they did not stay there very long but I am intrigued as to what they did there etc.
His death was very sad and his brother died on the day of Christophers funeral so not a happy time for the rest of the family.
I seem to have all the other information except the bit about australia. Very puzzling.

Yes the report in Morpeth Herald is definitely about him

So I see from another thread
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=449174.msg6617171#msg6617171

which is current and makes the looking at records that I, and others did, superfluous. It really does help if you keep to one thread.

I thought that as the other post was about his accident and this is about something different years before his accident it would need to be a new post.

its all about the same man, ALL of the information you have for him is relevant as are previous searches to save duplicating effort.
