It now looks as though Joseph Bright Gooch came to Australia to link up with his brother John Campbell Gooch and John's son John Burton Gooch and grandson John Burton Gooch.

Can we get a little more data on the two John Burton Gooches?
The older is born in 1844. The young would have been born approx 1870.

Newspaper ads that I have seen mention a JB Gooch in Sydney, a hairdresser.
There's also a tragic report of a JB Gooch who took his own life somewhere up-country in Queensland circa 1890.



On the subject of the 'missing friends' article in the newspaper, the TS Gooch could be Thomas Sherlock Gooch, Baronet of (?) in the UK, a distant cousin of considerable wealth and title.

this is the first objective proof that links John Campbell Gooch with John Burton Gooch and Berth May Gooch as grandfather-father-daughter.

I saw evidence on Ancestry of a John Burton Gooch marrying an Elizabeth Wooley (born 1844) (or similar) but Ancestry would not let me view the details. Could this be evidence of a re-marriage by the John Burton Gooch in this family line?

Since the deaths of our John Burtons are accounted for,
does this make the suicide in the 1890s a possibility for Joseph Bright?

I will try to review  the details I saw.
It was a newspaper story in Trove.
