The NZ Marriage Index at 1880/455 indicates George MOOD married Jemima Smith WYLIE.

Could someone please confirm or otherwise he was the "Subject" above, George MOOD.   I would be extremely grateful for any information.

From what I can see, the George MOOD who appears in New Zealand records, possibly goes on to become "George Harold MOOD" by way of naturalisation which occurred in May 1900

The following database has records (not much detail though) showing a George MOOD was a miner in the Thames district (Waikato,. NZ) in 1868 and 1869.

An 1880-81 electoral roll listing for Waikato-Waipa, has a George MOOD - contractor resident at Raglan.

In 1896 however, there are a number of "curious" listings showing --

->   a George MOOD, labourer, and a Jane MOOD, storekeeper residing at Eden - Auckland.

->   a George MOOD, miner --  Jane MOOD, Domestic duties -- George Harold MOOD - mine manager.  All are residing at Karaka Road, Thames (residential qualifcation).

[My Note:  My guess ... is that George MOOD and George Harold MOOD are "one and the same".  And although the naturalisation of George Harold MOOD didn't come about until the year 1900, it's probable the man was earlier using, the name he would later be known by.   
It does also look as if the couple, George and Jane MOOD, moved between living in Auckland and Waikato (Thames) over the years.    e.g. in 1905-06 they're at Takapuna, Auckland -- 1919 George Harold MOOD, bush contractor, residing at Huntly (Waikato).   Noting too that the George MOOD (1880-81) had the occupation of contractor ; and in 1896 was a miner :  George Harold MOOD had similar occupations. ]

Hi,

Will throw these into the mix, school records show there is a :

Bertha Menda Mood born *19 Sept 1893/17 July 1894* with Guardians being Mrs Jane Moody, Mr G H Mood and Mr George Herald Mood.

*dates as recorded on the admission form, Waitekauri was mentioned as being one of the schools attended.

There is also a Rose Mood born 2 Sept 1887 with a Guardian of Geo H Mood/G H Mood.
