Pubs in Abbot Street Wrexham.
« on: Friday 16 November 18 16:27 GMT (UK) »
In  1901 a Daniel Mostyn born c 1842 was  in the Railway Inn , 8 Abbot Street Wrexham.
Can anyone check the  1901 census and see if there is also  Butchers Arms in Abbot Street.
In 1891 a Ruth Eyton was in the Butchers Arms, was there a Railway Inn also in Abbot Street ? .
I`m trying to determine if they were 2 separate pubs or perhaps the name was changed after Daniel bought the Butchers Arms in 1895.

Hi will keep looking but at present can only locate the Welsh Harp at 20 Abbot Street census ref RG13/5225/101/25 and Cross Foxes 17, Abbot Street
Census ref RG13/5225/100/24
These two had Inn Keepers.

You say that the Railway Inn was No 8 in 1901.  In 1891 No 8 was where Ruth Eyton was living (Butchers Arms.)

There are lots of pubs in Abbot Street  ;D

The Butchers on the map is close to the  Swan which is still open, the only other one is the Cross Foxes on the opposite side.
