Arms on Seal/Stamp?
« on: Saturday 17 November 18 10:25 GMT (UK) »
Hello
Im still on the hunt for origins of the Bent arms and Ive noticed that the Stamp/Seal of the Will of Francis Bent, Gent of Cosby 1623-1686 has a Coat of Arms on it, Not the Bent arms as seen on visitation mind you.
Could anybody make out what the Arms are and attributed to? They may not even be Francis's and could be just used as that was close at hand.

I will attach images below

Ive also attached the Bent arms which are present on the Will of William Bent Esq of Cosby Hall 1677. He is using the Arms which are present on Visitation Pedigree.
Dudley of Cosby, Odstone and Swepstone, Leicestershire.
Richard Dudley, Gent 1681-1746. Son of Richard Dudley, Gent 1655-1710. Son of Henry Dudley, Esq 1620-1688.  Son of Thomas Dudley, Gent & Vintner 1589-1660. Member of the Worshipful Company of Vintners.

Bent of Cosby & Littlethorpe, Leicestershire.
George Bent, Gent of Cosby 1620-1693. Grt Grt Grandson of Thomas Bent, Esq of Cosby Manor 1514-1555
John Bent, Labourer of Cosby 1701-1765. 4th Grt Grandson of Thomas Bent, Esq of Cosby Manor.

In image - Francis Bent, Gent Will 2 (2).jpg - that would not be Francis Bent's seal because it is the seal of the person witnessing him make his mark. The large bold Fis his mark - the rest was written by the witness.I had to do the very same thing for the Airman in front of me in the pay parade queue every week in 1971.

Ah, Thank you very much for this.
I saw that Francis had signed an 'F' but didn't know if he had signed and then Sealed with his Seal.
