Help finding any info on a relative who disappeared James A Page
« on: Saturday 17 November 18 11:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I have a relative who disappeared without any trace. I think he is likely dead now. His name is James A Page born September 1927 in Liverpool. His father was Charles Thomas Page born 1883 in Liverpool and who died overseas in 1936 (merchant navy). His mother was Ellen/Eleanor Horobin and she was born 1902 in Liverpool and died 1948 in Liverpool. My mum says James often went by 'Jimmy', and that he disappeared without a trace shortly after his mother's death. I don't know what happened to him, if he got married...nothing. I am really curious if anyone can help me find out what happened to him. Thank you so much.

Have you located him (or his mother) on the 1939 register.  If he has died his name should be showing

A gentle reminder that it will be best if you amend your post to remove the name - if you do not have death registration details or proof of death then I think we should assume someone born in 1927 may indeed still be alive.

There may be members who can help & they can contact you via the personal message system by which you can let them know any more details of a potentially still living person.

ADDED: He may have changed his name too if he wanted to 'disappear'...

Do you know what his middle name was as there are a few records for a James Anthony Page on passenger and crew lists ?with same birth year

I found his mother Ellen on the register, she is alone in 1939. Not sure where James is. I did find one random 1939 entry where there was a James A Page in Wales...don't know if that is him. Ellen is doing 'unpaid domestic duties' and likely very poor, maybe she sent James away?

There are an awful lot of women doing unpaid domestic duties. Basically it means that they were full time housewives and not in a paid job. It doesn't necessarily mean they were poor.

Have you discounted the 1949 Liverpool marriage.

There are other Page / Horobin children, if the Ellen in 1939 you found was on her own where were they

I have not found this marriage, please could you share?

There was a Reginald T Page, a Brigid M Page, Ellen L Page, and Patricia Maria Page. Patricia is my grandmother and is deceased, so is Brigid. The rest I am not sure.
