How can I prove or disprove this?

Hi, I've been looking for the death of a relative, Ann Egan nee Ward formerly McDonnell b.1838 and her husband Michael Egan b.1847. I've found a burial which seems to fit for Ann and it reads as follows;

Greenacres Cemetery, Oldham.
Ann Egan, burial date 27.01.1900. Address Workhouse, Oldham. Age 62 years.

Does anyone know how I can get any proof that this is the correct Ann other than buying the death certificate (I do intend to get it if there isnt its not disproved but I cannot get it until payday)

There is an Ann with husband Micheal in the 1901  she is born 1838   from Ireland...

Was she born Dublin?

There is only one Ann Egan (transcribed as Agan) on the 1891 in that birthyear range.  Aged 52 and shown as married.  Living in Tottington Lower end with her sister Mary Keefe

Was Ann likely to have been living in Oldham in the years before 1900?
If someone died in the workhouse (or perhaps workhouse infirmary), would the informant on the death certificate have been a workhouse official? In which case the death certificate might not have any useful information. (I've got only one person who died in a workhouse, in 1890s and I haven't seen his certificate, so I'm not speaking from an informed position.)

WH death reporting was sometimes dependant on whether any relatives were known.  Both my great grandparents died in the WH infirmary but their deaths were reported by their daughter.

If there were no known relatives, it would be a WH official reporting the death so hit and miss with the Egan death cert

Go for the PDF  - if you are semi convinced on the death.  BUT as I said earlier are you sure that the one you have is HER and what about the one in 1901 with HUSBAND of the correct AGE  it shows that she is living in Lancashire  and from IRELAND....

I have several of my/my husband's pedigree die in a workhouse infirmary. Most have the workhouse official registering the death but you do get widow of ..... if known. I have a couple of certs. where death was registered by a relative as present at the death.
