It helps if you have exact dates or approximate dates (even if it is just the year), to make it easier for the clerk to find the case number in their records indexes. However, in many court archives, there is an experienced employee who has been there long enough to be able to find the record just by the case number.
(1) For Wayne County Michigan, their older files before 1942 can be ordered from the archives.
Here is a website link where you can print out a Divorce Records Request and mail it in with a $40.00 Money Order (US dollars). Since you know she married Max Ross in 1938 and can assume that she probably officially/legally divorced him before marrying someone else, when filling out your request, where it says "Approximate Year", you could say "before 1938" if that is all the information you have, but please be sure to also show the Case Number.
In order to avoid confusion, please use the American system of dates by showing the month first, then the day and then the year. (Not the British system of day first, then month, then the year).

Since we know she married Harry Ginsberg in 1931, she obviously divorced Lazarus Goldstein before 1931, so you would ask the clerk to check records before 1931.
