Catherine J Pocock in 1939 Register
« on: Sunday 18 November 18 14:34 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me find Catherine J Pocock b Sept 1921 in the 1939 register?

I think her middle name is Joyce (according to my Aunt who was her niece). She was one of twins I think, born to Albert Edward Pocock and Catherine M Townsend in Headington, Oxfordshire in September 1921.
The mother, Catherine M Townsend b1895 might have died in childbirth as death registered in same quarter as birth of the twins.
So I am trying to find out what happened to the babies after this.
The other twin was Ellen Townsend Pocock who I think is in the 1939 register transcribed as Ellen T Brook on Findmypast.com although the original image looks more like Crook to me. She is working as a parlourmaid at The Manor, Ewelme, Bullingdon RD.
The entry is later edited with her married name of Pick and Catherine M’s brother George Townsend b 1905 in Benson, Oxfordshire (occupation private gardener -could this be at The Manor?) lives in the same village which is what leads me to think this is Catherine J’s twin.

I have looked and looked for Catherine J in the 1939 register but not found a good match, it maybe that the record is closed of course.

I think that both Ellen T and Catherine J Pocock later marry in Ploughley in 1946 and 1944 respectively but I am getting confused with the changes of district names and not sure exactly where the marriages were in relation to Ewelme.

Have you searched using exact date of birth (it will be the same as her twin)?

When did she die?

Looks like the Catherine J Pocock from the 1944 marriage may have married an American soldier.
She married Warren J Kendall and there is a travel document on FindMyPast for Catherine J Kendall 24 of 85 Northfield Road, Thatcham, Berks, travelling with an
eight and a half month old child, Wayne J Kendall of same address. Dep. Of PFC Warren J Kendall, 3348 7176 of 1345 Liberty Street, Kenhurst, Reading PA
Date 8-3-1946 Southampton to USA
Birth of Wayne 1945 Newbury has Pocock mmn

I lost track of her after 1944 but from the posts here not surprising as she emigrated.

I have tried searching the 1939 under Catherine and Joyce using Townsend, Pocock, Brook and Crook and the exact birthdate or September 1921 + or - 1yr. But not found anything convincing as a posibility.

If she died in USA then her entry on 1939 Register will still be closed as the authorities here would have had no notification of her death.

Am I reading that right and it suggests Warren J Kendall had remarried someone called Helen by the date of his death? Is there anything about Catherine J Kendal remarrying or a death record?
