Christopher Keating
« on: Sunday 18 November 18 18:31 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm wondering if anybody would be able to help, please.

My great great grandad was called Christopher Keating & i've been struggling for a long time to find his parents.

Here are the facts;

Military record- royal artillery regiment, 4th royal dublin fusiliers attestation dated 27th July 1893, Christopher is listed as being 19 years old and from Palmerstown & a labourer.
In the last page of his military record next of Kin are listed as "Brother address unknown" and "Sister Margret Keating address Woodside, Sandyford, Co Dublin"
Christopher is posted to India in 1894

Marriage record- Christopher Keating marries "Cecilia Roche nee Chatterjee" on June 9th 1902, age is listed as 27 years, father is listed as "Christopher Keating".

Death record - Dies in India Sep 15th 1906, listed as age 36.

Now it seems the age is constantly changing per record.

Family knowledge is different again because my great uncle tells me Christopher was from Clondalkin.

Religion - Roman Catholic

Thank you

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.

Have you found Mgt in 1901?

I don't know her age!

So I presume you have searched records, handier if you name which ones you've searched as it saves others from finding what has already been found.

Yes, sorry, perhaps i should have been clearer in which records i have searched.

I explored the possibility of him being from mothers Catherine Dunne and the other was Judith Conlon, neither of these are in Palmerstown though. I've tried the newspaper archives on FindMyPast. Searched irishgenealogy.ie all births for a Christopher between 1868-1875 and none fit.
Searched Irish Catholic parish registers on ancestry, irish select birth and baptism records on ancestry
There's many more, i can't exactly remember as i've searched a lot

I do not have any information for Margret other than her name and vague address on Christopher's military record.

No problem.

The only real contender for his father is the one I posted and you have checked him and ruled him out.

The family may or may not have always been in Palmerstown.

Here's the birth of Christopher, son of Christopher & Catherine (Dunne)-

Possibly connected? A Christopher Keating of Ballyboden died 1882 age 73-

Woodside, Sandyford is very close to Ballyboden so worth keep in mind.

Other Children of Christopher Keating & Catherine Dunne-
Patrick (1864), Eleanor (1866)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
