Does anyone know if there are transcriptions for the MI,s for
Horsley Churchyard please?
I found a letter in a newspaper of 1878 where the enquirer was asking about the Abbott family and the reply was
A headstone of old date exists in Horsley churchyard and there were some pots in the family dated 1717.
I wonder if the stone still exists or a transcription of it?
 Many thanks

Hi

If you have a look on the Derbyshire Family History website, there is a list of MI's that have been transcribed.

I have been told that the headstone does still exist, it is a small granite one about 15" x15" with curved top near the path and just the name John Abbott 1200. This can't be the date, maybe 1700

I would also like to know if MIs have ever been collected here, and also if Horsley churchyard is open to visitors. Are there still lots of graves existing, or have all the stones been moved?

Is there anyone local to Horsley who would know?

At least one of my Woodward ancestors has a headstone here (I have been told) - and one day (distance permitting) I would like to visit and have a good root around to see if I can stumble across any of them.

One of my Woodwards married an Abbott at Horsley Park, and I have a copy of the article mentioned by Collin, but not traced any link to the John Abbott mentioned.

She will probably be able to answer all your questions.
