Looking for, parents of Francis Jackson and Elizabeth Storey
« on: Sunday 18 November 18 22:22 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the parents of Francis Jackson, I believe their names are John Jackson and Margaret,
and also the parents of Elizabeth Storey

What I know about Francis is that he married Elizabeth Storey from Hornsea in 1840 at Bridlington.

In 1841 they were living in Bridlington  Francis aged 30  birth Hutton Cranswick
                                                         Elizabeth aged 25 birth Hornsea
                                                          Charles 3 weeks birth Bridlington
In 1851 they were living in Darton   Francis aged 40
                                                    Elizabeth aged 35
                                                     Plus 5 children

In 1852 it looks like Francis Jackson died in the parish of Darton.

I have Elizabeth on census up to 1901 Living in Bridlington, but havent yet found a death for her.

Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Christine

Hi,

This MAY be John & Margaret's marriage.

From Familysearch:

John Jackson to Margaret Richardson on 17th December 1808 at Kingston Upon Hull, Yorkshire. Link here: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N2JC-6QN

This marriage would need to be confirmed though as its only a possibility.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Hello and welcome also from me.

I don't see a death for Francis JACKSON around Darton in 1852, just wondering where you have this information?

Thanks for the welcome, David and Maddy

Re the Burial record, it looks like i got it from Ancestry, might have been from someone elses tree,

The record is from West yorkshire, England Church of England Deaths and Burials.
Darton, All Saints   1852

Year 1852 Francis Jackson,  Abode, Kexbro, Burial December 12th age 41

page 68, no. 537.
If i tried i might be able to send it to you.

Thanks David for the information, as I'm new at this could you give me some advice as to how i might be able to check that this information is actually Francis's parents marriage.

Regards
Chris

Hi,

Francis had a brother John Jackson baptised 25th December 1811 at Hutton Cranswick to parents John & Margaret Jackson. Link here: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J7Q3-MQF

I am not seeing any other children to this couple.

I haven't as yet found a baptism for Elizabeth Storey despite my searching!

As to proving whether the marriage is the correct one or not, this can be quite tricky. Pre 1837 marriage records don't give you much if any extra info, just the Bride & Groom's names & date of marriage. Some diligent clergymen (only a few!) added some extra info. If they married by Licence as opposed to Banns, then there may be some extra info there. The first step would be to take a look at the original parish register entry of the marriage to see if there is anything to work with.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

David

Hi AVM thank you,

I agree with you about that, but

In 1881 on the census living with Elizabeth Jackson
there is a Harriet Jackson, aged 27 daughter unmarried aged 27 birth place Darton

makes her born 1854, don't know where she came from as Francis died 1852. Unless its Hannah although her age would be incorrect.

Morris Jackson on the 1851 census was called Moses!!!

A John Jackson married a Margaret Harrison 10/1/1809 Sheriff Hutton, Yorkshire so another possibility.
