Help with a marriage please Crampton (M) & Hanlon (F) c1915 =/- 5 years?
« on: Monday 19 November 18 10:29 GMT (UK) »

If anyone could help with this wall, I'd be so grateful. Even just their full names would help..  The order for the full birth certificate of Stanley has been placed with the GRO but I'm impatient :D.
Their children were
Stanley Herbert 1923
Constance 1924
and also 'Ben' - short for Benjamin or a nickname?
Many thanks to anyone who may be able to

There is no Crampton/Hanlon marriage on freebmd.  If Hanlon had been previously married she would have remarried under her married name but childrens births will show her birth surname

Stanley’s birth checks out with details you give but there are no other Crampton/Hanlon births

This tree is being done for a friend and he was adamant that he had an 'auntie' Charlotte.  However, in those days it was considered 'polite' and the done thing to call friends of parents 'Aunt' so I wonder if this is another fallacy.   I have already tracked down his 'Scottish' grandparents who proved to have been in Dublin, Ireland.  (Lucky person can now get himself a paddy passport and retain his freedom of the EU!)  The one above was born in the right area at the right time so I will check her out further. Thanks very much.  Yes Nanny Jan, that's where I got the name Hanlon above.

There is a tree on Ancestry showing Stanley’s  birth as 4.2.1923 Anstey Herts but unknown parents

Marriage 1946 to Mary  Josephine Mercer

Stanley died 2009

How does Auntie Charlotte become Constance?

Who is your friend descended from?

There's always the possibility that the parents said they were married......I have a few examples in my tree.  ::)

Is there a chance that the parents married somewhere other than England/Wales?
