James LOWES 1804
« on: Monday 19 November 18 11:15 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I am in search of the parents or James LOWES's ascending family, Marine, Come in France to Boulogne sur Mer to live there. I have no elements except that:
- He(it) was married with Mary Ann GRAVES
- He(it) would come from Rye in Sussex
- He would have been born in the surroundings of 1803 - 1804 - 1805
- I am the 6eme - " LOWES" generation after him.

Thank you in advance for everything those who would have elements ! ;) ;) ;) ;)

Welcome to Rootschat, Jerlow.

I haven't been able to find a baptism record for James Lowes in Rye but there is one possible candidate in Winchelsea (5km from Rye): James Lowes son of Martha Lowes, baptised 17 May 1801.

I've seen various Boulogne baptism records for children of James Lowes and Mary Ann Graves and he is described as a seaman, a steward on a packet, and a gentleman, but not a marine ( I think you must have meant to say "mariner"?).

Thank you ShaunJ!
Sorry for the translation errors it is because I use an on-line translator.
Thank you for your speed of answer. Actually that could correspond. On the death certificate which I found, he noted there that he was 62 years old on April 27th, 1866. It gives us 1804, thus 3ans after the baptism which you found.
Think you that the probability is rather good to confirm that it is him? In any case, that would be really great because the members of my family who made these searches(researches) have never drilled the mystery after the passage across the Channel.
I did not find the information or it is noted that he was Stewart... Where is it?
THANK YOU  !!! ;) ;) ;) ;)

"Steward of Packet" is James's occupation as recorded in the consular record of the baptism of daughter Alice in 1844.

Welcome to rootschat  and we'll done for asking the questions in a foreign language. .the automatic translation gets litthe things wrong but.I think most rootschat people can work out that 6ieme=6th and ans= years

I would have translated Marine as Sailor
Different records will be found depending  if he was a seaman or a naval person

If you need help with understanding any of your finds I can help translate
Which sites are you using for searches ?
