Rodgers-Caruth marriage 1811
« on: Monday 19 November 18 11:44 GMT (UK) »
Good day
Attached is an 1811 marriage notice apparently for William Rodgers (1788-1868) and CHARLOTTE Caruth (c. 1790-1848).
The families are common around Carnmoney but one problem is that W F McKinney and the Carnmoney baptisms have a JAN(N)ET Caruth. She might (just) be Charlotte Janet or Janet Charlotte; Janet and Charlotte are easily confused by ear - not so easily on paper. For example the baptism book has "Wm Rodgers & Jannet Caruth, HydePark" for their daughter Jan(n)et Vint Rodgers in 1821.
William's parents would be Alexander Rodgers and Janet Vint, but who were the parents of Charlotte / Janet?
I would not rely too much on CARUTH, as it often appears as CARRUTH or CRUTH.
best wishes
