Rhan-hir alias Tywysog was part of the ancient parish of Henllan in Denbighshire but now part of Bylchau. This may be be the place of your grandfather's birth. Ray

ADDED, At the moment I think Henllan comes under St Asaph
I have 2 birth of John born 1886, one maiden name Williams and the other Rowlands, BUT I stand to be corrected

John Roberts Sept qtr 1886
Hannah Roberts 1883
Frederick Roberts 1888
all with mother's maiden name Rowlands
So far no trace on census as yet

Hi, it might be better to try and get as much information as you can about your grandfather's brother Frederick Roberts and work on his birth. Frederick being not as prolific a name as John, Still a lot of Frederick Roberts though. Where did the brothers live? Where did they die? Burial and memorial stone? Did they have assets leading to probate documents when they passed away?
